2 years agoFree-agent forward JaMychal Green agreed to a deal to join the Warriors, with the terms remaining undisclosed. Green has averaged 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds since entering the league. He recently received a buyout from OKC after being traded by the Nuggets back in June. However, his best days are behind him, and he likely won't see the floor much this season. Yet, with head coach Steve Kerr's reputation for resting his players on a routine basis during any given year, Green may get some starts here and there in 2022-23.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBallerSource: NBA.com

2 years agoPhoenix Suns guard Cameron Johnson has been working hard to become a reliable option late in games as a ball-dominant player. Johnson mentioned that he focused on other areas once he got into the league. Now, the 26-year-old wants to get back to being a dominant player like he was in high school. It's great to hear that Johnson wants more responsibility next season. Although, he'll still likely have a reserve role, so it could be tough for him to get significant minutes. That being said, Johnson seems like a risky choice for standard leagues heading into the season. Time will tell if the Suns actually trust Johnson enough to be a late-game option.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Duane Rankin

2 years agoChicago Bulls guard Coby White wants to improve his ball-handling while also adding some muscle this offseason. The hope is that adding muscle will help him on the defensive side of the ball. However, it could be tough for White to find consistent minutes in the Bulls rotation. They have Alex Caruso, Ayo Dosunmu and Goran Dragic all competing for minutes alongside White. It seems possible that the Bulls would look to trade White, considering the depth they have at guard. There is a good amount of upside in White's game, but it's tough to imagine him getting significant minutes in Chicago. He'll be worth watching in fantasy leagues, but probably won't have fantasy value right away.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Chicago Sun Times

2 years agoToronto Raptors guard Armoni Brooks has been waived by the organization. The 24-year-old played in 54 games between the Houston Rockets and Raptors last season. He earned himself a two-way contract, but will now be looking for a new team. Brooks averaged over 11 points per game during his rookie season with the Rockets. There is some upside in his game, so hopefully another team will give him a chance. However, it's unlikely that Brooks holds any fantasy value unless he gets 20-plus minutes on the court, which probably won't happen with any organization.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Josh Lewenberg

2 years agoThe Philadelphia 76ers are under investigation by the NBA for possible tampering and early contact. The investigation is centered around their deals with James Harden, Danuel House Jr. and P.J. Tucker. The league will be looking to see if discussions with Harden took place before free agency opened. The All-Star guard took less money, so that the Sixers could bolster their roster with the extra funds. At the end of the day, the Sixers would likely only lose a second-round pick. That won't mean much for the Sixers as they continue to compete for an NBA championship.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Adrian Wojnarowski

2 years agoFree-agent guard Tyler Johnson has decided to leave the NBA and head to Australia. He'll join the Brisbane Bullets and play alongside his former teammate in Aron Baynes. The 30-year-old hasn't been relevant in fantasy hoops for quite some time. Honestly, Johnson hasn't offered much value on the court since his days with the Miami Heat. He only played six games last season between the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers. It wouldn't be shocking to see Johnson return to the NBA again, but he's unlikely to have fantasy value.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: The NBL

2 years agoFree-agent guard Matthew Dellavedova is back in the NBA after spending last season with Melbourne United. He'll join the Sacramento Kings on a one-year deal. The veteran guard last played with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2020-2021 season. He's expected to fill in as the third string guard behind De'Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell. Dellavedova could be good for a few minutes off the bench, but it's unlikely that he'll carry reliable fantasy value. Although, he'll add a strong veteran presence to this young roster.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Sacramento Kings

2 years agoThe Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed on a one-year deal with forward Eric Paschall. There were rumors recently that Paschall would head to Greece. Clearly, that isn't happening as he'll join Rudy Gobert in Minnesota. The two of them played together in Utah last season. Before that, Paschall played a significant role off the bench with the Golden State Warriors. There is potential in his game, but the Wolves' already have plenty of talent down low. It's tough to imagine Paschall having fantasy value while a majority of the roster is healthy.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Adrian Wojnarowski

2 years agoFree-agent guard Carsen Edwards is in advanced talks with Fenerbache Beko, which is based in Istanbul. The 24-year-old had his rights renounced by the Detroit Pistons. He signed late last season with Detroit, so he only played in four games. The former second round pick spent two years with the Boston Celtics prior to last season. He wasn't able to find a consistent role in the NBA, so a move to Europe could be good for him. Possibly, Edwards will return to the NBA after building up his value elsewhere.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: eurohoops.com

2 years agoFree-agent center Dwight Howard says that he wants to play in the NBA next season. However, Howard is ready to join the WWE, assuming he isn't able to find a spot on an NBA roster. He was recently at WWE tryouts in Nashville on Thursday. Howard was cutting promos in Nashville, so it sounds like he could be ready to make a career move. The 36-year-old most recently played with the Los Angeles Lakers last season. The eight-time All-Star isn't in his prime anymore, but can still make an impact on an NBA roster. Despite that, it doesn't sound like there is much interest in Howard. That being said, we could be seeing Howard performing sharpshooters in the WWE soon.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Arash Markazi

2 years agoSacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray recently underwent a minor procedure, but he isn't expected to miss much time. The rookie forward was named MVP of the Summer League. He averaged 23.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field. Luckily, this procedure was only to clean out some loose bodies in his right wrist. Murray was on the court getting up left-handed shots on Thursday, so this procedure isn't going to hold him back. Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried about Murray's wrist and he'll remain an intriguing fantasy pick.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: James Ham

2 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson recently signed a $231 million extension with the organization. However, Williamson could lose some of that money if he doesn't stay below a certain weight. In fact, the former No. 1 overall pick must have his combined weight and body fat not exceed 295. He is currently listed at 284 pounds, but is reportedly weighing more than 300 pounds in training camp. Williamson is coming off a foot injury that forced him to miss all of last season. The potential is certainly there, but the excessive weight is a concern. Now, the Pelicans will put some pressure on Williamson to stay in shape or he'll risk losing some money. It remains to be seen if this will be enough to motivate Williamson to get in better shape.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: NOLA.com

2 years agoFree-agent center Thon Maker has agreed to a deal with the Fujian Sturgeons in China. The former 10th overall pick from 2016 continues to keep his basketball career alive. He most recently played Hapoel Jerusalem last season. Although, he only made six appearances with the team. Maker hasn't played in the NBA since the 2020-2021 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Possibly, Maker will eventually get back to the NBA. However, it's highly unlikely that he'll ever live up to his high draft selection.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Basketnews.com

2 years agoFree-agent forward Semi Ojeleye has agreed to a two-year deal with Virtus Bologna in Europe. He is the latest free agent to leave the league and head overseas. Ojeleye was a second-round pick of the Boston Celtics in 2017. He didn't make much of an impact during his first four seasons in Boston. In 2021, Ojeleye split time with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers. A change of scenery didn't help too much as he averaged 3.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists last season. Hopefully he can improve his game in Europe and return to the NBA at some point.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Virtus Bologna

2 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram has been mentioned as the potential headliner of a trade package that could be sent to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for star forward Kevin Durant. However, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that the Pelicans have given no indication that they are willing to trade Ingram. Scotto reports that the Nets are looking for accomplished younger players like Ingram to receive in a return for Durant. Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes was also mentioned by Scotto as someone who the Nets would highly covet, but as is the case with the Pelicans and Ingram, the Raptors don't appear to have any interest in moving Barnes.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBallerSource: HoopsHype
