2 years agoIf a fighter has ever been victorious in a loss, it would be David Onama after his majority-decision loss in Saturday night's co-main event, which is easily the front-runner for the UFC's Fight of the Year. In 15 minutes of action, Onama tallied 71 significant strikes but absorbed 91 significant strikes. After a dominant first round which almost saw Onama walk out the victor, Nate Landwehr turned a 180 and went on to take over in Rounds 2 and 3. Though Onama moves to 2-2 in the UFC, we should see plenty of future success from him in the Octagon.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoWe may have just seen the Fight Of The Year in Saturday's co-main event when Nate Landwehr took a majority decision (28-28, 29-27, 29-27) over David Onama. In 15 minutes of action, Landwehr tallied 91 significant strikes (133 total strikes) and landed three of his four takedown tries while stuffing five of Onama's six takedown attempts. After a first round that saw Landwehr almost finished, he had a 180-degree turn in the second round and landed strikes and submission attempts on the tired Onama. The third round was all about the showcase, with both fighters lighting it up. Landwehr has now moved to 3-2 in the Octagon with back-to-back finishes.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoThough she did not walk out of the Octagon with a victory in her debut on Saturday, Iasmin Lucindo was up for the challenge while dropping a unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) to fellow newcomer Yazmin Jauregui. In 15 minutes of action, Lucindo landed 66 significant strikes but absorbed 86 significant strikes. Though her seven-fight winning streak came to an end in her UFC debut, she has shown that she belongs in the Octagon, and we will look forward to seeing future success from her.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoFormer Combate Global tournament winner Yazmin Jauregui did not disappoint in her UFC debut on Saturday by earning a unanimous-decision win (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) over fellow newcomer Iasmin Lucindo. In 15 minutes of action, Jauregui tallied 86 significant strikes and stuffed both of Lucindo's takedown tries on the night. If Jauregui can continue to fight at such a ferocious pace, there is no doubt she will have lots of success in the UFC's strawweight division.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoIt was a rough Saturday night at the office for Devin Clark, and he's now suffered losses in three of his last four contests. On Saturday's main card of action, Clark was just unable to overcome the power of Azamat Murzakanov. After the first round of action, Clark looked to be in control, but Rounds 2 and 3 saw Murzakanov get the better of the striking exchanges. It appears the higher Clark goes up the top-15 ladder in competition, the less likely we are to see him come out victorious.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoThe main-card finishes continued with Azamat Murzakanov earning a third-round knockout over veteran Devin Clark on Saturday. Dominating on the stat sheets, Murzakanov tallied 79 significant strikes compared to that of Clark's 14 in 11:18 of action. After a less-than-desirable first round, Murzakanov rebounded strongly in the second round and scored a knockdown before dropping Clark in the third, ultimately leading to the end of the contest. The win gives Murzakanov back-to-back third-round knockout wins in his last two UFC bouts.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoThe rough road in the UFC continued for Ariane Lipski after she suffered her third loss in four outings on Saturday, this time by way of first-round knockout just 65 seconds into the contest. Before the knockout, Lipski was only able to land four significant strikes before Priscila Cachoeira took advantage of the striking war. Depending on Lipski's current contract status, she might just be on her way out of the UFC.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoThere's not much you can say when it only takes 65 seconds to earn a big first-round knockout victory. In the case of Priscila Cachoeira in her fight against Ariane Lipski on Saturday, that is exactly what happened. In 65 seconds of action, Cachoeira reeled off 20 significant strikes before the referee called an end to the contest. The win gives her back-to-back victories and makes her victorious in four of her last five bouts, with three of the four ending in finishes.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoIt's now back-to-back losses for Bruno Silva, who suffered a third-round submission loss to Gerald Meerschaert in Saturday's main-card opener. In 11:39 of total action, Silva was only able to land 29 significant strikes but stuffed five of Meerschaert's six takedown tries. Silva had a moment here and there, but for the most part, it was Meerschaert's bout. Should Silva see a drop in opponent talent his next time out, it's possible that he could rebound. If he's tasked with another tough, seasoned fighter, it's probably best to stay clear of Silva in fantasy.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoControlling much of the fight in the main-card opener on Saturday, Gerald Meerschaert secured a third-round submission win over Bruno Silva. In 11:39 of action, Meerschaert tallied 46 significant strikes (61 total strikes) and only absorbed 29 significant strikes. With solid striking and impressive defense, Meerschaert did enough to frustrate Silva and eventually lock in a guillotine choke early in the third round. Meerschaert has now won four of his last five contests.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 years agoFormer UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (24-3) will be in action for the first time in 2022 as he faces Marlon Vera in the UFC Fight Night main event. He only has three losses in his 17-year professional career, although two have occurred within his last four contests. Typically a pace-controlling fighter who uses his unorthodox footwork to throw off his opponents, 16 of his career 24 wins have come by decision. DraftKings sees the former champion as the underdog with a salary of $7,700. However, Cruz makes for an interesting underdog choice, averaging 83.9 fantasy points per contest.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: UFC

2 years agoMarlon Vera (21-7-1) is entering the UFC Fight Night main event on a three-fight winning streak since the decision loss to Jose Aldo. Vera has landed nearly 55% of his strikes, while his opponent, Dominick Cruz, posts a 39% success rate. Vera's key to victory will be landing the big strikes on the 37-year-old former champion. DraftKings sees "Chito" as the favorite, although neither has a clear edge heading into Saturday night.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: UFC

2 years agoA former M-1 Challenge featherweight champion, Nate Landwehr (15-4), returns to Octagon for the first time in 2022 against a very dangerous striker in David Onama. Known to push the pace, eight of Landwehr's career wins have occurred via KO/TKO. The 34-year-old has landed one more significant strike per minute than Onama. However, he will need every bit of that if he hopes to avoid being another one of Onama's knockout victims. DraftKings sees "The Train" as the underdog, which is a reasonable salary considering his cloudy outlook on Saturday night.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: UFC

2 years agoWith back-to-back wins since debuting for the promotion, David Onama (10-1), who is coming off of a July submission win, will return to action for the second time in as many months at UFC Fight Night on Saturday. Onama has finished all 10 of his professional fights, with six via KO/TKO. DraftKings has the "Silent Assassin" listed as the favorite in the bout against Nate Landwehr. Entering the UFC with a lot of hype, Landwehr has gone 2-2, with both losses ending by knockout, which certainly bodes well for Onama.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: UFC

2 years agoSet to make her Octagon debut versus a fellow newcomer, Iasmin Lucindo (13-4) hopes to secure her eighth consecutive professional victory heading into UFC Fight Night. A dangerous striker, eight of her career 13 wins have come by KO/TKO. DraftKings has the 20-year-old as the sizeable underdog with a salary of $7,500. Her first bout with the promotion is coming against Yazmin Jauregui, who has also developed a reputation for finishing her opponents. Nonetheless, while Lucindo has her hands full, there is no denying her upside for DFS managers looking to take a chance on Saturday.--Matt Bricker - RotoBallerSource: UFC
