Brandt Snedeker Trying To Find Stroke At Wyndham
2 years agoBrandt Snedeker has endured a rough 2022 season. He ranks 180th in the FedEx Cup and in the 300's when it comes to world rankings. If that is not tough enough, the American golfer has missed the cut the last two tournaments Snedeker has entered (ten of last 14). He drives less than 285 off the tee and cannot make putts. That is a recipe for unfortunate results right there. He loses 0.355 strokes off the tee right away. His shots are often errant throwing off the rest of the game. Trying to find his stroke and putting are vital this week more than anything else.Source: PGATour.com
Jason Day's Performance Last Week Could Be A Good Omen
2 years agoJason Day did not win the Rocket Mortgage Classic last week but he finished off the tournament well. Considering the layoff and such, the Australian golfer made some putts on Sunday en route to a final round 66. After a 3M Open where the rust showed, that was not the case on a course more suited for Day. He is on a shorter course this week and while Day may not contend, he could get close to a top-20 or even top-ten result. His putting was better last week and overall ranks 69th on tour at 0.156 strokes gained. Day's birdie per round average ranks 42nd as well. Source: PGATour.com
Chez Reavie Needs To Make Putts To Contend
2 years agoThankfully for Chez Reavie, the Wyndham Championship is a par-70 course that is only a little over 7,100 yards. However, he drives the ball so poorly at around 281 yards and his putting gains -0.332 strokes which ranks just 182nd. The American golfer can be on somewhat like at the Barracuda Championship where he won with 43 points. Unfortunately, he can go off the rails like at the John Deere Classic. The Wyndham sees scores closer to -20 aside from Kevin Kisner's -15 last year. Even then, Reavie off the tee and on the green must get off to a hot start. Source: PGATour.com
Webb Simpson Searching For Form
2 years agoWebb Simpson has now missed two straight cuts. It has been a disappointing month for the major champion. Although Simpson has not played his best golf, his strokes gained data suggest he's not too far off. Over his last 24 rounds, Simpson ranks 19th in the field tee-to-green and 31st in DraftKings Points. Simpson is projected to be low owned and his upside is high. He makes for a great GPP target. Brendan Steele Looks To Rebound At The Rocket Mortgage
2 years agoBrendan Steele missed the cut last week at The 3M Open. Steele was a popular play at The 3M due to his current form. Steele didn't play all that bad last week, he lost 6.1 strokes on the green which influenced his missed cut. It was the second consecutive tournament for Steele losing over six strokes on the greens. Steele has now gained strokes on approach in five straight starts. If Steele could improve on the greens he makes for a sneaky DFS option. Source: PGA Tour
Matt Kuchar Playing Consistent Golf Lately
2 years agoMatt Kuchar has not missed a cut since The Players Championship in March. Kuchar had a strong spring finishing second at The Valero and third at The RBC Heritage. Kuchar's game has cooled off some this summer but he still has not missed a cut. If he is going to contend this week he will rely on his strong short game. Over the last 24 rounds, Kuchar ranks second in strokes game short game. Kuchar is also projected to be low owned this week and makes for a good GPP play. Source: PGA Tour
Kevin Kisner Looks To Build On Current Form
2 years agoKevin Kisner has played well in his last two starts. It has been much improved for the South Carolina native as he missed five straight cuts prior to the Travelers. Kisner finished in sixth place that week. He then went on to record a top 25 place finish at The Open. Kisner also has strong course history at this event. He has recorded two top ten place finishes in his last two starts. While the field is much less talented, Kisner is $2,200 more expensive on DraftKings. If you are buying Kisner this week it could be at his ceiling. Source: PGA Tour
Cameron Young Seeking First Tour Win
2 years agoCameron Young briefly shared the lead at The Open on the 18th hole. Young holed his eagle putt to tie Cameron Smith for the lead. Smith went on to make his birdie putt and win The Open. Young had an impressive Open and he is carrying that momentum into the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week. Young figures to be a popular play but his ownership may be warranted based on his current form. Over the last 24 rounds, Young ranks first in DraftKings points and his top five in a number of other statistics. Fade at your own risk. Source: PGA Tour
Cam Davis Looks To Defend Rocket Mortgage Title
2 years agoThe 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic champion Cam Davis will be in the field to defend his title this week. Coming into the event, Davis has been playing very well. Last week Davis made it nine straight made cuts in his last 10 starts, and his finish was his fifth top-20 in that stretch. In route to his win last season, Davis hit over 70% of both fairways and greens, and didn't play any group of holes over par. Davis was one-under on the par 3s, five-under on the par 4s, and 12-under on the par 5s. Last week at the 3M Open, Davis hit just under 70% of greens, and just under 65% of fairways. However, he did play the par 4s and 5s at 10-under par. So, Davis is in form to defend his title, and will have the chance this week. In DFS, his price is a bit high, but in a field that drops off quickly, Davis is an option in all contests. Source: PGA Tour
Will Zalatoris Ready For First PGA Tour Win
2 years agoWill Zalatoris is still searching for his first PGA Tour win, and after three top-five finishes in his last six starts, the time might be now for Zalatoris. In total, Zalatoris has eight top-10 finishes this season, in his 20 starts. Last season at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Cam Davis won after hitting over 76% of greens. That's a good sign for Zalatoris, as he is the number one player on tour in strokes gained on approach, and sixth on tour in greens in regulation percentage, hitting over 70% on the season. As always for Zalatoris, he will only go as far as the putter will take him. Zalatoris is outside the top-100 on tour in strokes gained putting, losing strokes on average this season. Even with his putting struggles, this could finally be the week for Zalatoris to get that first PGA Tour win, and don't be surprised if it happens.Source: PGA Tour
Tony Finau Looking To Win In Back-To-Back Weeks In Detroit
2 years agoTony Finau picked up his first win of the season last week at the 3M Open. Finau didn't dominate, but his consistent play was good enough to pick up the win. He will now tee it up in back-to-back weeks as he heads to Detroit as one of the favorites. Finau will be making his second career start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, his first came in 2020 when he finished 53rd. Besides his win, Finau has recorded three top-five finishes in his last six starts, and five top-28 finishes in his last six starts as well. The field this week isn't the strongest, so Finau will cost you top-tier salary. Although he should be a fine play, a victory hangover is possible this week in Detroit.Source: PGA Tour
Chris Kirk On A Roll Heading Into Rocket Mortgage
2 years agoChris Kirk has been playing some great golf of late. He has made the cut in five straight events, including a 42nd-place finish at The Open Championship in his last start. Kirk is one of the most efficient players from the tee box on the PGA Tour. He has gained strokes off the tee in every event he has played in in 2022 and ranks 14th in the field in fairways gained over the past 50 rounds. Kirk ranks 40th in the field in birdies made, proving he can string together enough birdies to contend at an event that has historically been low-scoring. He will be very popular in DFS due to his recent form and his ability to gain strokes off the tee. He is a great DFS option, but his high ownership may be an issue. Alternatively, Kirk could be a good outright bet if players fade him in DFS but still want to back him in some way.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Davis Riley Struggling Entering Rocket Mortgage
2 years agoDavis Riley has put together a solid season on the PGA Tour. Riley has posted three top-five finishes so far in 2022 and made the cut in both the majors he has played in. He has made the cut in eight of his last 10 events but has struggled over his past two starts. He's in the negative in strokes gained in his last two tournaments, missing the cut his last time out at the 3M Open. Riley has really struggled with his putter and lost a shocking eight strokes during his week at the Travelers Championship. He does set up well for this course, ranking fourth in the field in birdies made over the past 50 rounds. He has been very close to securing his first PGA Tour win multiple times this year, and this event has produced two first-time winners in its three-year history. Riley will be popular in DFS and on the betting market and enters the event with a lot of expectations to perform.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Adam Hadwin In Great Form Leading Into Rocket Mortgage
2 years agoAdam Hadwin's solid season continued last week when he finished 38th at the 3M Open. Hadwin has made the cut in eight of his last 10 events, posting three top-10 finishes during that stretch. In the three-year history of this event, the winner of the Rocket Mortgage has finished with a score of 18-under par or better, proving players will need to make birdies. Hadwin ranks 10th in the field in birdies over the past 50 rounds and ninth in strokes gained on par-fives. Add in the fact Hadwin has shot 59 at a PGA Tour event, and it proves he can contend at events where players need to go low to compete. He has played this event twice, missing the cut last year but finishing fourth in 2020. The Canadian is priced in the middle tier in most DFS formats, which will most likely keep his ownership in check. He is a solid DFS option and could provide some value on the betting market.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Adam Scott A Great Option In Detroit
2 years agoAdam Scott will tee it up in Detroit after back-to-back top-15 finishes in the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. For Scott, those were his first top-15 finishes on the PGA Tour since March at the WGC-Match Play Championship. As usual, Scott hasn't played much this season. The Rocket Mortgage Classic will be Scott's 16th start of the season, out of a possible 43 PGA Tour events in 2021-22. In terms of fantasy, Scott has a very cheap DFS price in a field that is lacking star power. Scott shouldn't have any issues paying off his DFS price and should be considered one of the favorites this week in Detroit.Source: PGA Tour
