Panthers Finalizing Deal With Norv Turner
7 years agoThe Carolina Panthers are finalizing a deal to make Norv Turner their next offensive coordinator, according to a league source. Turner's son, Scott, will also join the team as the new quarterbacks coach, according to another source. Turner and his son will be tasked with improving quarterback Cam Newton's accuracy and efficiency issues through the air, as he's thrown 41 touchdowns but 30 interceptions the last two seasons. Head coach Ron Rivera spent four years under Turner with the San Diego Chargers from 2007 to 2010. Turner's offenses often feature big plays deep down the field, and current speed receivers Kaelin Clay and Curtis Samuel could help achieve this in 2018, but the Panthers need an influx of talent at the receiver position.
