Panthers Remain Silent About Selection For No. 7 Pick
5 years agoWith no trade in place that would send the Carolina Panthers further down the draft board despite recent speculation, head coach Matt Rhule has not hinted at what type of player the team may choose with the seventh overall pick in the first round, according to ESPN's David Newton. After signing quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wide receiver Robby Anderson this offseason, along with extending workhorse running back Christian McCaffrey, it seems likely Carolina will choose a defensive player to help aid the unit after losing cornerback James Bradberry, linebacker Mario Addison and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, among others. At this point, Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons and Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown remain strong options to be selected if they are available, along with Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah.
