Panthers Restructure Christian McCaffrey's Contract
3 years agoThe Carolina Panthers did a simple restructure on running back Christian McCaffrey's contract to clear around $5.5 million in salary cap space for the 2022 season. McCaffrey made his first Pro Bowl and was named as a first-team All-Pro in 2019, but he's pretty much been hurt ever since. He played in only three games in 2020 and seven games in 2021 due to injuries. The 25-year-old totaled 99 carries for 442 yards and a touchdown and added 37 catches for 343 yards and one more TD through the air last season. Because of CMC's elite pass-catching skills, he should remain as an RB1 in fantasy drafts, but his injury risk and Carolina's void at QB will knock his price down significantly.
