4 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Patrick Corbin averaged 90 mph with his fastball in three innings on Thursday, and reached 92 mph at times. In his last spring start of 2020, he was only in the 87-88 range. After averaging close to 92 mph in the 2019 regular season, Corbin only threw about 90 in 2020. He doesn't necessarily rely on his velocity to get outs, but Corbin could have a nice year if that velocity continues to improve and the changeup he's reportedly working on becomes a useful pitch. Corbin is ranked as roughly a #4 starter this draft season but he will be outperforming that expectation if he regains his 2019 form.--Nathaniel Green
