3 years agoThe New England Patriots have demoted kicked Nick Folk and backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to the practice squad. Folk hit all three of his field goal attempts and had a long of 42 yards. He also converted his only extra point. With Folk demoted, the Patriots look committed to moving forward with rookie kicker Quinn Nordin. Nordin impressed the team during the preseason and could remain the Patriots kicker for the long-term. The Patriots will suit up versus the New York Jets in Week 2 and Nordin should have some opportunities to help managers in that matchup. With Hoyer demoted, the Patriots currently don't have a backup quarterback on the active roster for Mac Jones and it remains likely that Hoyer will be promoted back to the active roster before Week 2.
