Patriots Give Brian Hoyer A Two-Year Deal
3 years agoThe New England Patriots agreed with veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer on a two-year, $4 million deal on Monday that includes $3 million guaranteed and incentives, according to a source. Hoyer will return to mentor young QB Mac Jones as he heads into his sophomore season. The 36-year-old is more of a coach than a player at this point in his career, and he might know New England's offense better than any coach now that former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is coaching the Las Vegas Raiders. Hoyer will be the favorite for the backup job, but the Patriots could add some competition this offseason. He played in parts of five games last year and attempted only 11 passes.
