Paul Blackburn Pitches Well In No-Decision Versus Seattle
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Paul Blackburn allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched in a no-decision Monday versus the Mariners. Blackburn was cruising along in this one as he tossed five shutout innings before running into trouble in the sixth. The right-hander served up a hit then a two-run homer to Mitch Haniger before being removed from the game. Blackburn has now pitched well in two spot-starts since Chris Bassitt (face) was placed on the injured list, but he's not a name to chase in fantasy as he still has a 5.53 ERA in 110 career innings while sporting a sub-20 percent strikeout rate. Toss in a matchup with the red-hot Yankees up next and Blackburn can safely be left on waivers.
