6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong (hand) is set to visit a specialist next week that can give him clearance to start hitting live pitching again. DeJong has been on the disabled list since May 18 with a fractured left hand. He was hitting off a tee last weekend, and a minor league rehab assignment would be imminent if the specialist does clear him. DeJong was having a decent season before his injury with a .260 average, eight homers, and 19 RBI through 41 games. DeJong was shooting for a return in early July and he is on track with that timetable. Now would be the time to stash him if he is kicking around on the waiver wire.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
