6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong is reportedly well on his way back from recovering from hand surgery on May 18. DeJong had a metal plate inserted to protect his bones and has experienced significant healing thus far. He was given an initial timetable of four to eight weeks and is likely to come back sooner than later. As of now, it is still a bit early, but it should not be shocking if he begins a rehab assignment in the next week or two. DeJong is an important power hitter in the middle of the Cardinals order with 33 home runs in 149 games played in his major league career. Hopefully, this hand surgery does not impede his bat going forward.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
