Paul Goldschmidt Getting A Breather Thursday
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers. Goldschmidt is having another great year at the plate, as he's slashed .295/.367/.517 with 31 home runs, 98 RBI, 101 runs and 12 stolen bases over 155 games. Infielder Matt Carpenter is getting the start at first and will bat seventh. Carpenter has continued his offensive decline this season, batting .171 with just three home runs across 126 games. He's been even worse off of southpaws, producing a .317 OPS. There is no reason for fantasy managers to stream him, especially against left-hander Brett Anderson.
