Paul Goldschmidt Resting Sunday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is receiving a day of rest on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds. It's only the third time that Goldschmidt has been out of the starting lineup this season. The 34-year-old has been an MVP candidate in the National League through the early going in June, as he's slashing an excellent .327/.411/.577 with a .988 OPS, 12 long balls, 47 RBI, 41 runs scored and even three stolen bases in 255 plate appearances and 58 games. Juan Yepez is playing first base and is hitting sixth against Reds right-hander Graham Ashcraft in Goldy's absence. The rookie Yepez hasn't been as good so far in June, going 5-for-23 (.217) with no homers and three RBI in nine games, but he's not a terrible low-cost DFS option on Sunday.
