5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is not in the lineup Wednesday against starter Trevor Richards and the Marlins. Goldschmidt is in the midst of a 1-for-23 slump and is hitting a measly .179 in June so the star first baseman could probably use a night off. The good news for fantasy owners is Goldschmidt is still making good contact and things should turn around soon. He's making 52 percent hard contact on the season and his .306 BABIP is well below his career mark of .352. Last season Goldschmidt got off to a terrible start as well before hitting .304 with 12 home runs in the second half so fantasy owners should continue to be patient, and possibly make a buy-low trade offer before he gets hot again.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
