Pedro Severino Suspended 80 Games
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers catcher Pedro Severino was suspended 80 games without pay by MLB on Tuesday after testing positive for Clomiphene, a performance-enhancing substance. Severino was slated to serve as Omar Narvaez's primary back this season, but he'll now miss half of the year after violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment program. The 28-year-old Dominican spent the last three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, and he hit .248/.308/.690 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 32 runs scored in 419 plate appearances over 113 games in 2021. With Severino now out for the first half of the season, Mario Feliciano and Brett Sullivan figure to compete for backup duties behind the dish.
