2 years agoHouston Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton is excited about working with rookie second-round wide receiver John Metchie III after he tried to recruit him to play at Michigan in college. Metchie ranked in the top 10 in college football in 2021 in receptions (96) while he recorded 1,142 receiving yards and eight touchdowns at Alabama. He's been working his way back from knee surgery after tearing his ACL in the SEC Championship on Dec. 4. Hamilton thinks Metchie can be a dynamic player for the Texans offense. "He can create his own yards once he gets the ball in his hands," Hamilton said. "He has good short-area quickness, which will allow him to beat man coverage, and that's what you got to do in the National Football League."--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
