Pete Alonso Continues His Red Hot Spring
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-home run on Saturday against the Houston Astros in Grapefruit League action. Alonso continues his hot hitting this spring, giving credence to a potential, imminent bounce-back campaign in 2021. Alonso now has four HR to go with a .333/.418/.688 slash line and 14 RBI in 48 spring training at-bats. This is a far cry from his poor 2020 spring training in which he failed to even hit one HR in 45 at-bats. After an inconsistent sophomore season in 2020 in which he slashed just .231/.326/.490 with 16 home runs and 35 RBI over 57 games, Alonso appears poised for a monster 2021 campaign. If he can get off to a quick start in 2021, Alonso may be able to come close to his 2019 production, particularly hitting in the middle of a Mets lineup that has added Francisco Lindor and James McCann to its ranks.
