4 years agoBatting lower than fifth in the starting lineup for the first time in his career, New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso crushed two home runs in the Mets' 11-4 win over the Marlins on Monday. Alonso, who batted sixth in the order, reached base in all five of his plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with the two home runs, driving in two, and walking twice. After a slow start to the season, Alonso is now batting .241/.350/.448 with five HR and 13 RBI in 103 plate appearances. Despite metrics that supported Alonso's poor start to the season including a low zone contact percentage, Alonso is clearly breaking out of his slump. He is now hitting .381 over his last five games with three HR and six RBI. Owners in all formats should confidently keep Alonso active in their lineups.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
