Pete Alonso Remains On Fire This Spring
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 3-for-3 with a home run and double on Tuesday against the Houston Astros in Grapefruit League action. Alonso remains on fire this spring, slashing .417/.533/.958, with three home runs and 10 RBI in 24 at-bats. This is a far cry from last spring when he failed to hit a HR in 45 at-bats. Alonso looks to be poised for a huge bounceback campaign in 2021 after an inconsistent sophomore season in 2020. In 2020, he slashed just .231/.326/.490 with 16 home runs and 35 RBI over 57 games. If he can get off to a quick start in 2021, a slash line of around .250/.340/.540, with 40-plus HR and over 100 RBI is a reasonable expectation for the young slugger.
