4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went a combined 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Mets' doubleheader against the Nationals on Saturday. After his day on Saturday, Alonso now owns a .222/.321/.453 line with 14 home runs and 32 RBI on the season. It was a disappointing sophomore season for Alonso. He was never able to maintain any consistency despite a number of metrics including overall barrel rate, launch angle, and strikeout rate which were similar to his 2019 metrics when he hit 52 HR with 120 RBI. Alonso and the Mets have one final game on Sunday against the Nationals before their season concludes. As mentioned previously, it will be interesting to see whether Alonso's ADP heading into 2021 drafts takes a significant hit given his disappointing 2020. Again, the underlying metrics suggest his floor is higher than his 2020 numbers and he could potentially be a draft-day steal depending upon how far his 2021 draft stock declines.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
