Peter Alonso Has “Put Himself On The Map”
7 years agoYou may not have recognized the name of New York Mets prospect/first baseman Peter Alonso all that long ago, but you absolutely should be paying attention to him now. According to Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, Alonso has “put himself on the map” with a very strong start to the season after a productive 2017. Alonso is crushing it in Double-A Binghamton, slashing .400/.500/.788 (1.288 OPS) with eight home runs, 20 runs scored and 22 RBI across 98 plate appearances. The possible heir apparent to the Amazins first base gig, Dominic Smith, should officially consider himself on notice as Alonso shoots up the rankings. Alonso likely isn’t tickets for Queens in 2018, but stranger things have happened.
