Pete Alonso Hits First Home Run Of Season
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, two runs scored, and a walk on Tuesday in the Mets' 8-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Alonso is coming off a red-hot spring, so this showing in just the second game of the season bodes well for a potential bounce-back campaign in 2021. After an inconsistent sophomore season in 2020 in which he slashed just .231/.326/.490 with 16 home runs and 35 RBI over 57 games, Alonso appears ready to find his 2019 form when he hit 53 HR to go with 120 RBI. If Alonso can maintain this quick start, he may come close to his 2019 production, particularly hitting in the middle of a stacked Mets lineup.
