Peter Alonso Promoted To Triple-A Las Vegas
6 years agoThe New York Mets may not be calling up prospect first baseman Peter Alonso to the major leagues anytime soon, but they’re at least going to give him his chance in Triple-A. The team promoted the defensively-challenged slugger to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, a mere few days after first baseman prospect Dominic Smith was given his shot with the big club. Alonso certainly deserves the opportunity with the way he was crushing pitching for Double-A Binghamton. Across 269 plate appearances, Alonso has dominated to the tune of a .315/.442/.574 slash line with 15 home runs, 41 runs scored, and 52 RBI. His 1.016 OPS ranks third in the Eastern League, in case you needed more of a reason to be interested here.
