Phil Hughes and Kirby Yates Return for Padres
6 years agoThe San Diego Padres have activated Phil Hughes off of the disabled list and reinstated Kirby Yates from paternity leave. Kazuhisa Makita and Robert Stock were sent to Triple-A in corresponding moves. Hughes has pitched to a disappointing 6.23 ERA since coming to the Padres and holds no fantasy value. Yates, on the other hand, has a strong 0.79 ERA with a 41/9 K/BB ratio over 34 games. He's stuck behind closer Brad Hand for now, but Hand has been mentioned as a potential trade piece at the deadline. If Yates is given an opportunity to see regular saves, he could become a must-have in deeper fantasy leagues.
