Philip Rivers Could Throw Often
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers could lead a pass-first offense in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. When running back Melvin Gordon was out with an injury last season, Rivers dropped back to pass on 62.4 percent of the plays. When Gordon was healthy, that number dipped to 58.3 percent. The Colts were good against opposing quarterbacks last year, and the Chargers offense is without Gordon and left tackle Russell Okung (heart), which means Rivers may not have as much time to throw. He's not a starting option in Week 1, but he is a great backup to have.
