7 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and tight end Virgil Green have been gaining chemistry in training camp practices lately. "(Our connection) is growing,” the quarterback said. “We're working through how I like things, what I'm expecting on certain routes. He's getting a feel for this offense. He was in it similarly with (Mike) McCoy (in Denver). Virgil is going to be just fine. He has played a lot of football and is a good football player. Those kind of things, you'll see more of that and more plays like that.” Green has always been known as a great blocking tight end, but he's doing his best to prove he can be a weapon in the passing game, too. He never had much of a chance in Denver, catching 71 passes in 100 career games there with 807 yards and four touchdowns. He's the top tight end on the Bolts depth chart right now with Hunter Henry (knee) out for the year, so Green's opportunities should go up with his new team. If the Chargers don't re-sign Antonio Gates, Green could be a TE2 sleeper with touchdown upside.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
