Phillies Avoid Arbitration With Hector Neris
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris agreed to a $4.6 million deal to avoid arbitration. The deal includes a $7 million team option for 2021 which would have been Neris' final year of arbitration eligibility before free agency. Neris had a career-year last season posting 28 saves with a 1.02 WHIP which were backed up by strong supporting metrics such as his 32.4 percent strikeout rate. He should rack up plenty of saves pitching for a good Phillies team and should help in strikeouts as well. Draft him with confidence as a mid-round reliever with upside.
