Phillies, Nick Castellanos Agree To Deal
3 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies and free-agent outfielder Nick Castellanos are in agreement on an undisclosed deal on Friday night, according to sources familiar with the deal. The Athletic's Jayson Stark reported Friday morning that the Phillies were in serious pursuit of the former Cincinnati Reds slugger. The signing will put the Phillies over the luxury tax threshold, but they are obviously willing to do it for another impact bat in their outfield. The addition of the 30-year-old will likely move Kyle Schwarber to everyday designated hitter duties. Castellanos was a first-time All-Star in 2021 when he hit an impressive .309/.362/.576 with a career-high 34 home runs and 100 RBI in 585 plate appearances over 138 games. He'll be an extremely attractive fantasy outfielder that is moving to a more potent lineup.
