2 years agoSan Diego Padres pitcher Pierce Johnson (elbow) is traveling to Peoria on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate. He has been sidelined since April 22 due to right elbow tendinitis. The 31-year-old owned a 4.50 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts over six innings in 2022. Barring any setback, he could return to San Diego's bullpen in September. Johnson could be used in a high-leverage role for the Padres once he's officially activated and is someone to monitor in leagues that reward the category saves and holds.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
