Pierre Strong Jr. Could Be James White's Successor
3 years agoNew England Patriots fourth-round running back Pierre Strong Jr. was highly productive on the ground in his time at South Dakota State, as he averaged 7.2 yards per carry in his career and had 1,000 yards rushing in each of his three full seasons while scoring 40 career rushing touchdowns. However, with Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson forming an early down duo in New England, Strong projects as a complement and a potential long-term replacement for pass-catching back James White, who has yet to fully recover from hip surgery. "I would say from a Patriots perspective, yeah, I think he starts working a lot more on those third-down roles, maybe as more of a pass-blocking option to James White's pass-catching option, and then slowly eats into that. But don't be surprised if they also work him heavily in the rotation," Shrine Bowl director of operations and player personnel Eric Galko said.
