Pierre Strong Jr. A Healthy Scratch In Week 1

2 years agoNew England Patriots rookie running back Pierre Strong Jr. is a healthy scratch for the Week 1 season opener against the Miami Dolphins. Strong will start his NFL career on the sidelines with pass-catching specialist Ty Montgomery (knee) surprisingly active on Sunday. The 23-year-old fourth-rounder looked a bit lost in training camp and the preseason, so he has a ways to go before he'll be involved in New England's game plan out of the backfield in 2022. It will also likely take an injury to one or two of the backs ahead of him on the depth chart for Strong to see a substantial role. Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson will operate as the team's two main backs against Miami, with Montgomery pitching in occasionally on passing downs.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
