6 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates added pitching depth by trading for Baltimore Orioles right-hander Yefry Ramirez on Monday. The Orioles optioned Ramirez to Triple-A Norfolk last week after he was pounded by the Indians for five runs (four earned) on six hits across 3 1/3 innings on May 20. He was 0-2 with a bloated 6.09 ERA along with a 1.94 WHIP in 10 1/3 innings of work over four appearances, including one start, with the O's. The 25-year-old has shown the ability to record strikeouts, but control has been an issue for him since making his professional debut in 2012. Ramirez, who has been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, has a career major league record of 1-10 along with a 6.07 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, .304 BABIP against and a paltry 1.64 K/BB ratio in 21 appearances. Baltimore will receive a player to be named later.--Daniel Benjamin
