Pirates Claim Enny Romero Off Of Waivers
7 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates claimed reliever Enny Romero off of waivers from the Washington Nationals on Saturday. The left-hander was designated for assignment by the Nats on April 7 after a pair of uninspiring appearances in which he gave up three runs on five hits and a walk in two innings. The Pirates desperately need some bullpen help, as their relief corps ranks second-to-last in baseball in ERA (6.90). They're hoping Romero can recapture his 2017 form. Last year, he posted a 3.56 ERA, 3.86 FIP, and career-best 26.5 percent strikeout rate in 55 2/3 innings. Romero has some strikeout upside, but his shaky control (career walk rate of 11.1 percent) makes him a non-entity to fantasy managers.
