Pirates Sign Jake Marisnick To Majors Deal
3 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates signed free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick to an undisclosed major league deal on Thursday. Marisnick was released by the Texas Rangers earlier this week, and he will provide the Pirates with outfield depth with both Anthony Alford (wrist) and Greg Allen (hamstring) on the injured list to begin the season. Marisnick hit just .160 with a home run and four RBI in 10 spring training games after slashing .216/.286/.375 with five home runs, 24 RBI and 21 runs scored in 198 plate appearances over 99 games last year with the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres. The 31-year-old is more of a defense-first player that can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.
