PJ Walker Struggles In Preseason Start
2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback PJ Walker completed eight of his 15 attempts for 107 yards and two interceptions in Friday's 20-10 preseason loss to the New England Patriots. He started and alternated quarters with Matt Corral (foot) but was forced back into action when the rookie suffered an injury. Walker re-entered the game for Carolina's final two drives, in which he fumbled and threw an interception. It was a rough showing for Walker, who played much better last week and has since been the subject of trade rumors. With Baker Mayfield expected to open the regular season as the starter, it is no surprise that Walker or Sam Darnold could be dealt. Assuming Walker sees the field again next week, he will need to elevate his play if he hopes to have a job at all this season.
