Rafael Devers Removed From Friday's Game
2 years agoBoston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (back) was removed from Friday's game against the New York Yankees in the top of the fifth inning due to an apparent lower-back injury. The 25-year-old went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before exiting. He appeared to be wincing in pain and grabbing his lower back after striking out during the fourth inning. The star third baseman is considered day-to-day. Devers is slashing .327/.384/.593 with 19 home runs, 51 RBI, 59 runs, and two stolen bases across 80 games in 2022. Franchy Cordero replaced Devers in Friday's game while Christian Arroyo moved to third and Jackie Bradley Jr. to right field. Arroyo would see an uptick in playing time if Devers is forced to miss additional time. Stay tuned.
