Rafael Montero Coughs Up The Lead Tuesday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Rafael Montero had yet another tough outing Tuesday evening. Montero entered the game in the seventh inning and struck out Justin Turner to close out the frame, but ran into trouble in the eighth. After retiring the first two batters, things unraveled quickly as he allowed a single, a hit-by-pitch, and then a three-run home run to Gavin Lux. Montero now sports a 5.51 ERA for the year with five blown saves. He clearly isn't being used as a locked-in closer anymore, so his fantasy value has been reduced to almost nothing. Fantasy managers who still roster Montero can safely move on.
