4 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Rafael Montero has blown three saves in the opening weeks of the 2021 season, and on Thursday he did not receive another opportunity in the first game of the doubleheader. Montero was brought into the game in the sixth inning, and threw a scoreless frame as the set-up man for Kendall Graveman who nailed down his second save. Montero has been largely effective to start the year, with a 3.68 ERA and .95 WHIP, but he no longer appears to be locked into the closer role. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on this situation, and look to see if Kendall Graveman is available on waiver wires.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
