Raiders Optimistic On Khalil Mack Talks
7 years agoBoth Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack and the team have been in communication about a possible long-term contract extension, and general manager Reggie McKenzie isn't worried that the pass rusher isn't taking part in voluntary offseason workouts. "This is going to be a big contract and all sides are trying to make everything work," McKenzie told NFL.com on Wednesday. "It's about the end result. One thing I know is that we love Khalil Mack and we want to make him a Raider for life. We'll get through all the other stuff. We understand the business part of it." Everything is good between Mack and new head coach Jon Gruden as well, as the two have already talked. The Raiders might see Mack on the field until a contract is done, and a deal exceeding Von Miller's six-year, $114.5 million deal ($70 million in guarantees) might be the framework. Mack has started every game since coming into the league in 2014 and has a whopping 40.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles. He's an elite IDP player.
