Rams Fill Running Back Hole With Cam Akers
5 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams selected running back Cam Akers out of Florida State with the 52nd overall pick. With long-time RB Todd Gurley being released in the offseason, the Rams filled a large hole on the offense. In Akers, Los Angeles gets a swift, powerful RB who has the potential for big plays, which should help out quarterback Jared Goff. Akers could see sleeper fantasy value in 2020, as he will likely split touches alongside unproven RB Malcolm Brown. Nevertheless, the Florida State product could ascend to the starting role as the season progresses if he makes a difference for the team, but he'll also be competing with Darrell Henderson. This becomes a crowded backfield now, and the addition of Akers is bad news for Brown's fantasy ceiling.
