Rams Would Like To Re-Sign Sammy Watkins
7 years agoLos Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead said the team would like to re-sign impending free-agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins this offseason. If a long-term deal cannot be reached, placing the franchise or transition tag on Watkins is an option. “A goal of ours is to keep that (wide receiver) group together because a lot of our weapons are 25 and under," Snead said. After being traded over from the Bills, Watkins had just 39 catches for 593 yards but scored eight touchdowns in his first season with the Rams. The 24-year-old took advantage of Robert Woods missing several games and was more productive in the red zone during that time, but overall he was a disappointment, and he disappeared from games for long stretches. If he's back in 2018, Watkins will be the No. 3 wideout behind Woods and Cooper Kupp.
