Randal Grichuk’s Batting Average Climbs Above .100
7 years agoIt’s been a slow start to the Toronto Blue Jays career of outfielder Randal Grichuk, to say the least. Entering the team’s doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, Grichuk was hitting .071 across 42 at-bats to start the season. That all changed when the real Grichuk stood up in the first game of the twin bill, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI. The home run was his second of the season and the two hits raised his batting average to .109. With that kind of effort, what could he possibly do for an encore in the nightcap? He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk. Maybe Grichuk hasn’t turned it around, but if his power stroke gets going at any point, he’ll make for an interesting option in 12-team leagues and above.
