Ranger Suarez Efficient In First Start Of Season
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez threw three shutout innings with a strikeout and a walk in his first start after being effective in a relief role. Suarez, who posted four saves and a sub-one WHIP as a reliever, needed only 33 pitches to cruise through three innings against a punchless Nationals lineup. Manager Joe Girardi said Suarez would throw "about three innings or 45-50 pitches" and he stuck to his word despite Suarez's effectiveness. On the season, the left-hander has a pristine 1.04 ERA and a 25.7% strikeout rate through 43 1/3 innings. It remains to be seen how he fares once his pitch-count is built up and he sees a batting order a second time, but for now, Suarez is worth a speculative add in fantasy.
