3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez arrived in camp on Thursday and said he threw a couple of bullpens before leaving Venezuela. Suarez expects to be ready for the start of the regular season after being delayed to spring training by visa issues. The 26-year-old right-hander probably won't be able to go deep into games for a while, like most pitchers this year with a shortened spring training, but he could still open the 2022 campaign in the team's starting rotation. The left-hander appeared in 39 games for the Phillies last year (12 starts) and went 8-5 with a strong 1.36 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 107 strikeouts and 33 walks in a career-high 106 innings pitched. There is some upside with Suarez due to his ground-ball tendencies, but the upside will be limited due to the fact that he's unlikely to throw a ton of innings in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
