Ranger Suarez To Start Monday For Phillies
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Ranger Suarez will transition to the starting rotation beginning on Monday at the Nationals, according to Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Manager Joe Girardi said Suarez will throw about three innings or 45-50 pitches. This is a bummer for fantasy managers as Suarez had emerged as a legitimate closer for Philly. The 25-year-old lefty had four saves since the All-Star break and his 1.12 ERA and 0.87 WHIP were a nice bonus for those who added Suarez. Newly acquired Ian Kennedy is the favorite to take over closer duties, though Hector Neris will also be in the mix. Suarez is droppable in most leagues as he's less valuable in fantasy as a starter.
