Ranger Suarez Whiffs Eight Cubs In No-Decision
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez allowed two runs across six innings with eight strikeouts in his latest strong start. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, the bullpen couldn't hold the lead and get Suarez the win, but it was yet another encouraging effort from the 26-year-old lefty. Suarez has simply been brilliant this season, accumulating a 1.50 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP across 80 innings as a starter and reliever. He's averaging more than a strikeout-per-inning thanks to a sturdy 25.4% K-rate, and when batters do hit the ball it's usually on the ground as Suarez has a pristine 60% ground-ball rate. How Suarez is available in any fantasy league is one of life's great mysteries. He should be universally started in his next outing versus the Orioles.
