Rangers Call Up Elier Hernandez
2 years agoThe Texas Rangers called up outfielder Elier Hernandez from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. In the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this year for Round Rock, Hernandez has hit .295/.364/.546 with a .910 OPS, 11 home runs, 35 RBI, 40 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 231 plate appearances over 62 games. It remains to be seen if he'll immediately join the Rangers starting lineup to make his major league debut on Thursday against Seattle Mariners left-hander Marco Gonzales. Since the 27-year-old bats right-handed, there's a good chance he'll see his first big-league action on Thursday, and he might be worth a flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues despite not being listed as one of the team's top-30 prospects by MLB Pipeline.
