Rangers Want To Get Jose Trevino In The Lineup
4 years agoTexas Rangers catcher Jose Trevino appears slated for a bigger role after manager Chris Woodward declared his intention to get Trevino in the lineup more frequently over the rest of the season. Trevino hasn’t hit particularly well over his professional career with a .687 minor league OPS and a .636 OPS over 49 major league games, but he boasts strong contact skills (9% career MLB swinging-strike rate) and is a potential DFS option with good matchups. If Trevino hangs on to the starting catcher role then Jeff Mathis is likely to see diminished playing time, though the Rangers are likely to stick with something of a committee at the position for now.
