Ravens Add Offensive Line Depth
6 years agoThe Baltimore Ravens have signed center Hroniss Grasu to help bolster a struggling offensive line. The Ravens offensive line entered their Week 3 game against the Denver Broncos ranked 28th in the league overall and 30th in run blocking by Pro Football Focus. The O-line showed significant improvement against the Broncos as running back Alex Collins racked up a season-high 68 yards on 18 carries. They also protected quarterback Joe Flacco decently well, allowing two sacks and three quarterback hits. However, the Ravens produced just 2.8 yards per rushing attempt versus the Broncos and backup quarterback Lamar Jackson still has the team's longest run of the season (16 yards in Week 1). Grasu, selected in the third round of the 2015 draft, has had a difficult time on field as well as staying healthy. The 27-year-old has started 12 of his 14 career appearances. He finished ranked among the worst centers by Pro Football Focus in 2017. The Ravens waived defensive back Robertson Daniel, who was on the field for 10 special teams snaps in Week 3, to make room for Grasu. With the addition of Grasu, the Ravens now have three reserve offensive linemen on their 53-man roster.
